If you were a Houston person of style visiting the big apple last weekend, the place to be for Brunch on Sunday, was the Yotel on 10th Ave. where two home-town Houston favorites, Cesar Galindo and his Collection Czar and Aries Milan, with her collection Kate Kills Pretty were showing their Fall 2012 runway shows at a totally hip brunch. For Aries and her sister August, this was their first entre into NY Fashion Week. It was great fun because the place was right, the clothes were edgy and out there…the crowd was so familiar both with the designers themselves and with each other, that it became a two hour delightful party on a very otherwise bleak Sunday afternoon. NY Fashion Week Recap…Barbara Tfank, Timeless Dressing in Scrumptious Fabrics…That’s Her Style!

My first exposure to Barbara Tfank, the designer and the person, was her visit to Houston for Fashion Houston last October and her P.A. the day after at Neiman’s.  I learned from her then her philosophy of creating timeless dresses, using the finest European fabrics and expert tailoring.  Seeing her collection of mostly dresses at a Manhattan Art Gallery last week, reinforced that this idea continues. Jill Stuart’s Look for Fall…Modern, Cool but Still Feminine…

My first show in NYC was from designer Jill Stuart, who began her show with dark prints and contained for me, a taste of fashion ideas that I would find in many of the shows to follow.  Head-to-toe prints, peplum styling, feminine sheer fabric touches in many different ways, leather and fur, and a continuation of beading for special pieces…a look somber in tone from this season’s bold color but fresh in styling and detail.
